Leadership qualities are qualities that characterize effective direction.

Allow me to lay it out clearly.

For starters, powerful leaders are . . .

1. Lowly

2. Decisive

3. Selfless and self sacrificing

4. Empathetic

5. Disciplined

6. Great communicators (they convey the agenda effectively and certainly)

7. Reasonable and unprejudiced

Successful leaders . . .


9. Surround themselves with folks brighter than they are


11. Acknowledge that they are infallible and acknowledge mistakes when they make them

12. Have a burning urge to really make a difference . . . a positive difference

What are these four uncompromising qualities of leadership that is efficient?

1. Surround yourself with people smarter than you

2. Acknowledge errors when you make themselves. Take corrective actions, move on, and learn from them

3. Maximize the potential of your folks and

4. Be selfless. Serve your organization and your people. Abhor private gain.

The urge for personal gain will ultimately lead you to the path of failure and will colour your judgment.

To illustrate, consider what occurred recently in the firm where I work.

I work for an international drink company with roots in Britain, as I write this. The cocoa based beverage drink of my company's has about 50% share of the nation 's entire cocoa based beverage market. Certainly, it turned out to be a huge operation.

Some two years back, the finance manager as well as my institution's CEO were fired. Why?

Over statement of business accounts.

The firm wasn't doing well. Instead of telling his bosses thus, the CEO . . . with the cooperation of the finance director . . . When the market was not growing as rapidly as generation was growing, he refused to slow down creation. The factories kept on making at break neck speed on getting more warehouses to store what was made that could not be accommodated by the market along with the business kept)

3. He surrounded himself with 'yes men' - directors who were at his mercy . . . Directors who stood by and watched while shareholders' life investment went down the drain

No matter how good you currently are, however sensible you might be, regardless how many awards you have won, you'll fail eventually if you're not a selfless leader.

Remember all the leadership qualities discussed above. But no matter what you do, don't forget the four most important leadership qualities.
